VN, US to expedite TPP negotiations

PM Dung asked for an early conclusion of the Viet Nam-US double tax avoidance agreement and the US recognition of Viet Nam’s market economy.
He stressed that Viet Nam, as a member of the World Trade Organization, always implements its commitments, boosts a market economy and integrates into the world economy to develop fast and sustainably.
To conclude the TPP negotiations, PM Dung affirmed that Viet Nam will work closely with the US and expected for a flexibility in negotiations to respond to each country’s development needs and interests.
He also valued the outcomes of cooperation between the Ministry of Finance and the US Treasury, particularly technical support in taxation, public accounting, one-door customs and macro-economic analysis.
In addition, PM Dung stated that both countries have much potential cooperation in economics, trade and investment which should be promoted to bring practical benefits to both sides.
Secretary Jacob J. Lew affirmed that the US attaches importance to all-round cooperation with Viet Nam, especially in economics, trade and investment.
He stressed that the US appreciates Viet Nam’s participation in TPP negotiations, saying that the country is actively stepping up negotiations for a bilateral double tax avoidance agreement.
