Greetings extended to Myanmar on Independence Day

(Vietnamplus - 03/01/2014) - President Truong Tan Sang and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on January 3 conveyed greetings to President of Myanmar Thein Sein on the occasion of the 66th anniversary of his country’s Independence Day (January 4, 1948-2014).
 
The same day, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh also sent his greetings to Myanmar’s Foreign Minister Wunna Maung Lwin.
 
Viet Nam and Myanmar have consolidated and enhanced their traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation, especially in politics in recent years.

The two sides have also taken measures to promote cooperation on agro-forestry, aquaculture, transport, energy, information, health care, culture, education, sports, tourism and science and technology, as well as coordinated at international and regional forums such as ASEAN, the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) and Cambodia-Laos-Myamnar-Viet Nam (CLMV) cooperation mechanism.

Viet Nam is targeting over one billion USD in investment in Myanmar by 2015 and 2-2.5 billion USD by 2020 as the country is emerging as a hotspot for foreign investment.
