Mr. Dam made the proposal at a reception on January 6 for Grant Shapps, UK Minister without Portfolio, who is visiting Ha Noi.
He noted the strategic partnership between Viet Nam and the UK has developed strongly in all areas, especially in economics, trade and investment, bringing practical benefits to the two peoples.
Viet Nam will do its utmost to consolidate and deepen this strategic partnership in the coming time, he assured his guest.
The Deputy PM suggested both sides increase trade and investment promotion to raise bilateral trade to a new level, while expanding cooperation in education.
For his part, Shapps confirmed the UK attaches importance to developing ties with Viet Nam, and it will work closely with Viet Nam to realise signed agreements.
He said UK businesses are keen to invest in Viet Nam, and asked the Vietnamese government to facilitate UK companies’ operation in the country, primarily in architecture, construction, education, and machinery manufacturing.
He also proposed strengthening cultural exchanges, revealing the UK’s willingness to share experience in organising the Asian Games (ASIAD) in Ha Noi in 2019.
