Gov’t chief meets with UN Secretary General, French President

(VGP - 25/03/2014) - PM Nguyen Tan Dung on Tuesday in The Hague held separate meetings with United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and French President Francois Hollande on the sidelines of the ongoing Nuclear Security Summit (NSS).

Both PM Dung and Ban Ki-moon expressed their pleasure with the fine development of the Viet Nam-UN relations. 

Viet Nam, stressed PM Dung would continue raising its sense of initiative and further contribute to fulfilling the UN’s millennium development goals and the reform of the largest international organization. 

The Vietnamese Government leader also promised to spare no effort in successfully taking over its role as a member of the UN Human Rights Council in the 2014-2016 tenure. 

For his part, Mr. Ban Ki-moon praised the contribution of the Southeast Asian country to the UN’s common issues. 

Viet Nam and France share many similarities in culture for closer cooperative ties, said PM Dung while meeting with French President Francois Hollande.

The two leaders reached consensus to beef up their strategic partnership, especially host the 2014 Viet Nam Year in France./.
