Viet Nam, German step up legislative bond
NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung made the comment while receiving German Parliament Vice President Edelgard Bulmahn in Hanoi on April 17, during which he described Germany as one of Viet Nam’s most important European partners.
Reviewing his visit to Germany in March 2013, the top legislator thanked the German side for their warm welcome.
NA Chairman Hung expressed his delighted at the two countries’ strategic partnership, which he said born fruits in all fields.
He further said Viet Nam and Germany have regularly exchanged delegations at all levels and conducted consultation mechanisms, thus creating momentum for bilateral cooperation.
Despite such outcomes, the current level of cooperation has yet to match both sides’ potential, he said.
Given this, the NA Chairman called on the German Parliament to back the country’s businesses to further their reach in Viet Nam, particularly in areas that Germany has strength and Viet Nam has demand, such as health equipment, energy and chemicals.
He welcomed Germany’s selection of Ho Chi Minh City as a venue for the 14th Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business in November.
The important event will offer a chance for the two countries’ businesses and politicians to share economic information, thus helping beef up bilateral collaboration, especially in trade and investment.
Edelgard Bulmahn expressed her delight to visit Viet Nam, with the strategic partnership between the two countries developing strongly in all fields.
Speaking highly of the Vietnamese legislature’s approval of the new Constitution, which highlights progress and equality, she suggested the two countries’ parliamentary bodies continue supporting and enhancing bilateral ties in future.
She also called on the two sides to further their cooperation in such areas energy and heavy industry, in which Germany is very strong.-VNA
