PM meets with New Zealand leaders

(VGP) – As part of his ongoing official visit to New Zealand, PM Nguyen Tan Dung met with New Zealand Governor-General Jerry Mateparae and Speaker of the New Zealand House of Representatives David Carter on March 19.

PM Dung informed Governor-General Mateparae about the outcomes of his earlier talks with PM John Key.

The Governor-General expressed his pleasure with the outcomes and affirmed his support to elevating the bilateral comprehensive partnership to a new height. He valued agreements concluded during the visit and suggested enhancing the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation, including the establishment of friendship between localities of the two countries.

PM Dung expressed his hope that the Governor-General would continue to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in New Zealand.

The host affirmed his attention to the community and praised their contributions to New Zealand.

During the meeting with Speaker Carter, PM Dung noted that cooperation between the two National Assemblies supported importantly effective realization of the comprehensive partnership.

He spoke highly of positive activities of both countries’ parliamentarian friendship associations, saying these contributed to boosting mutual understanding and trust between the two legislative organs.

The legislator affirmed that close collaboration between the two countries’ legislative organs has helped enhance the comprehensive partnership between Viet Nam and New Zealand.

He said that he supported efforts deepening the comprehensive partnership.

On the day, PM Dung met with Leader of the New Zealand Labor Party, Andrew Little.

The politician showed his care for Vietnamese students currently studying in NZ, noting the linkage between young people will provide a strong foundation for sustainable bilateral relations in the future. He suggested both countries enhance people-to-people exchange and tourism cooperation.

The Vietnamese delegation’s members also met with New Zealand partners to discuss specific measures to enhance bilateral cooperation.

Minister of Agricultural and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat and Minister of Transportation Dinh La Thang met with their counterparts Nathan Guy and Simon Bridges, respectively.
