Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh holds talks with Colombian counterpart

FM Minh affirmed that Viet Nam attaches importance to expanding friendly cooperation with Colombia in various fields like politics, economics and trade, energy, culture, education, tourism among others.
He spoke highly of Colombia’s proposals for creating a legal framework for the bilateral cooperation.
Colombian FM praised Viet Nam’s recent socio-economic achievements, asking the two countries to accelerate cooperation in trade, agriculture, oil exploitation, culture, education and poverty reduction.
She said Colombia is much interested in joining the Asia-Pacific economic organizations.
The two FMs also agreed on measures to boost cooperation between the two ministries of foreign affairs.
Both countries would enhance support and coordination at international organizations and multi-lateral forums to protect their legitimate interests and heighten the two countries’ prestige.
After the talks, the two FMs signed an agreement on visa exemption for diplomatic and official passport holders and a Memorandum of Understanding on establishing political consultation mechanism between the two foreign ministries.
During her stay in Viet Nam from Feb. 25-27, FM María Ángela Holguin also paid courtesy call to PM Nguyen Tan Dung, met with Minister of Trade and Industry Vu Huy Hoang.
