Senior Thai diplomat on Viet Nam visit
Minh expressed his wish that in the coming year, Thailand will send many delegations to Viet Nam.
Sihasak Phuangketkeow spoke highly of the effective implementation of bilateral cooperation mechanisms, including the meeting of the Viet Nam-Thailand Joint Committee on Trade Cooperation in Ha Noi in July and that of the Viet Nam-Thailand Joint Working Group on Political and Security Cooperation in Hua Hin earlier this month.
With the two foreign ministries’ close cooperation, the friendship and cooperation between Viet Nam and Thailand will continue to strongly develop in the future, including the organisation of the second joint cabinet meeting, he said.
Exchanging views on international and regional issues, the two sides pledged to promote ASEAN’s six-point principle on the East Sea and coordinate in accelerating discussions with China on a Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC).
They also vowed to closely cooperate with other ASEAN countries in regional cooperation mechanisms, ensuring the upcoming ASEAN Summit in Phnom Penh a success.
The same day, Sihasak Phuangketkeow and Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Quang Vinh co-chaired the second political consultation meeting between the two foreign ministries.
