Remark by H.E Mr. Pham Binh Minh, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam on Fostering Innovative Growth
Thanks Mr. Co-Chairs,
I fully concur with other colleagues speakers before me that it is imperative for us to work harder together to foster APEC innovative growth. I wish to echo the appreciation for the Russian Federation’s able leadership in the joint effort so far.
Innovation is one of the 5 key elements of APEC Growth Strategy adopted by our Leaders in Yokohama and reasserted in Honolulu.
The endeavours and outcomes of APEC cooperation are encouraging. Notebly are the establishment of APEC Innovation Technology Dialogue, APEC Policy Partnership on Innovation between Governments, enterprises and the academia, and APEC Higher Education Cooperation Forum.
We have successfully put in place APEC Policy Partnership on Women and the APEC Women and the Economy Forum. This is essential to promoting women’s empowerment and their contribution to socio-economic development at this time.
At this critical period of economic restructure and transformation, it is crucial for us to have stronger cooperation and networking in education services, human resources development, capacity building, knowledge sharing and financing innovation efforts.
Viet Nam looks forward to working closely with member economies for the 6th APEC Ministerial Meeting on Human Resources Development to be held in Viet Nam in 2014.
