The Vietnamese Deputy PM made the statement while meeting with Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Advisor for International Economics of the US, Caroline Atkinson, in Ha Noi on December 12.

He expressed his belief that the bilateral ties will expand vigorously in the time to come and economic linkage will still be a focal pillar.

Viet Nam and the US have established comprehensive partnership during State President Truong Tan Sang’s official visit on July 24-26.

Caroline Atkinson highly praised the role played by Viet Nam – a dynamic economy in the Asia-Pacific region.

She hoped that the two countries would continue to boost practical cooperative activities on the basis of the comprehensive partnership, including the conclusion of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) talks by the end of this year.

Deputy PM Minh voiced his support for the US’s determination to complete the TPP negotiation process and asked the two sides to maintain exchange of delegations at all levels.

He also urged the US to recognize Viet Nam’s market economy status and remove trade barriers against Vietnamese products exported to the US./.
