State President calls at Indian state of Maharashtra

(VNA - 13/10/2011) - Viet Nam ’s consistent policy is to attach importance to and wish to unceasingly strengthen the traditional friendship and strategic partnership with India , including exchanges between localities, organisations, friendship societies and people.

State President Truong Tan Sang made this statement while meeting with K. Sankaranarayanan, Governor of Maharashtra state, in its capital city of Mumbai on Oct. 13, as part of his current state-level visit to India.

The President spoke highly of recent cooperation in finance, trade, investment, science and technology, pharmaceuticals and human resource training between Vietnamese localities and Maharashtra .

He asked the Governor for more attention to prompting major companies and groups to invest and do business in Viet Nam .

Governor Sankaranarayanan affirmed Mumbai is ready to cooperate with Viet Nam in its two strong areas of economics and education, contributing to increasing the two countries’ relations.

He spoke highly of the Viet Nam-India Business Forum held in Mumbai the same day, stressing the need to boost Viet Nam ’s strengths such as coffee and rice exports.

The Governor praised Viet Nam’s efforts to curb inflation, ensure social security and promote educational development, especially universal education and foreign language teaching for children./.
