Viet Nam values ties with Japan: NA Chairman
VNA - Viet Nam always treasures ties with Japan and will spare no efforts to further bilateral partnership for mutual interest as well as for peace and prosperity in the region and the world, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung has said.
Receiving a delegation of Japanese parliamentarians led by head of the Budget Committee of the Lower House of Japan’s National Diet Toshihiro Nikai on July 28 in Hanoi, Chairman Hung expressed his delight at the growing strategic partnership between the two countries and their parliaments.
“There is room for both countries to beef up partnership in culture, health care, security and defence,” he noted.
Thanking the Japanese Government and people for supporting Vietnam’s socio-economic development of Viet Nam , especially through the official development assistance (ODA), the top legislator pledged that Viet Nam will use this source effectively.
He also spoke highly of Japan’s strong voice and its resolution condemning China’s illegal deployment of the oil rig Haiyang Shiyou-981 and a large fleet of escort ships in Viet Nam’s waters in early May.
He said he hopes that Japan will continue backing Viet Nam’s stance on strictly abiding by international law and ensuring trade and maritime safety and freedom, not letting peace, stability and cooperation in the region be threatened.
For his part, Toshihiro Nakai said the delegation’s visit aims to deepen cooperation between the two parliaments and peoples, especially in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters.
Japanese parliamentarians will do their utmost to further develop bilateral ties in the future, he affirmed.
