On June 23rd 2017, in response to questions from the media on Viet Nam’s reaction to the adjustment in the US policy towards Cuba, MOFA Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang made the following remarks:

“Viet Nam opposes any embargo unilaterally imposed by one state against another.
Viet Nam wishes that Cuba and the US would deal with their disagreements through negotiations and dialogues, in the spirit of mutual  respect of independence and sovereignty, working toward a complete normalization of bilateral relations, for the legitimate interests of their people, contributing positively to the maintenance of peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world at large.
In that spirit, Viet Nam asks the US to lift its embargo against Cuba over the last five decades.”./.
