AFP: Please confirm and provide Vietnam’s reaction to reports that the International Buddhist Information Bureau (IBIB) sent a letter to the Vietnamese leaders to call for the release of Thich Huyen Quang and Thich Quang Do who have been detained since October 2003?

Answer:

We do not have such information as asked by the correspondent. However, I would like to say clearly that Thich Quang Do and Thich Huyen Quang are not detained as the IBIB claims. These two men are leading a normal life and practicing their religion as usual.
