Regarding the 2003-2004 “ Supporting Human Rights and Democracy” Report by the US State Department

ANSWER TO CORRESPONDENT BY MR. LE DZUNG, THE SPOKESMAN
OF VIETNAM’S MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS ON 21st MAY 2004

Question: Please advise Vietnam’s reaction to the 2003- 2004 “ Supporting Human Rights and Democracy” Report released by the US State Department on 17^th May 2004 which includes a part on Vietnam?

Answer:

We hold that in the report there are assessments which fail to reflect correctly the real situation in Vietnam.

Some differences still remain in the relations between Vietnam and the United States and the best way to solve those differences is through constructive and candid dialogue with mutual understanding and respect for each other’s concern.
