We would like to express condolences and sympathy to Governments and victims'families affected by earthquake and tsunami


ANSWER TO CORRESPONDENT BY MR. LE DZUNG, THE SPOKESMAN

OF THE VIETNAMESE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS ON DECEMBER 27, 2004

AFP, AP, DPA asked: Please advise Vietnam's reaction to the earthquake and tsunami causing great losses to life and property in many Asian countries, especially Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Thailand? Will Vietnam provide humanitarian aid to those countries?

Answer:

We are extremely astounded and deeply touched by the great losses of life and property caused by the earthquake and tsunami on December 26th in many Asian countries, especially Sri Lanka, Indonesia, India, Thailand, Bangladesh, Malaysia and the Maldives.

We would like to express our profound condolences and sympathy to those countries' Governments and the victims' families for their losses.

Vietnam hopes that the Governments and people of all countries affected by the disaster will soon surmount the hardship, overcome the consequences and stabilize their life.
