ANSWER TO CORRESPONDENT BY MR. LE DZUNG, THE SPOKESMAN
OF THE VIETNAMESE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS ON 21st DECEMBER 2004
AFP correspondent: We are informed that recently there has been some disorder in two provinces of Gia Lai and Dac Lac. Please advise the latest developments and causes?
Answer:
The situation in the Central Highlands including Gia Lai and Dac Lac provinces has been still normal.
We have repeatedly affirmed that the State of Vietnam pursues a policy of equality, solidarity and mutual support among ethnicities. As other ethnic groups in the country, the ethnic community in the Central Highlands enjoys the State's utmost care and favorable conditions in improving their spiritual and material life. The State also incessantly perfects and implements policies to raise the people's living standards in all fields.
The Government is actively and successfully realizing socio-economic development programs to satisfy ethnic minorities' need of land for production and housing.
During these days in December, confident in the Government's policy, religious followers in the Central Highlands are intensively preparing for Christmas in a merry atmosphere.
