Question : Please provide Vietnam’s reaction to the information that Taiwan plans to construct a run-way in Ba Binh island of Truong Sa archipelagos?
Answer
Vietnam’s position on Truong Sa and Hoang Sa archipelagos is totally clear. Vietnam possesses sufficient historical evidences and legal foundations to assert its indisputable sovereignty over the two archipelagos.
Taiwan’s construction of a runway on Ba Binh island (Itu-Aba) constitutes a severe violation of Vietnam’s sovereignty, exerting negative impact on peace, stability and the trend of increasing cooperation in the region, countering the spirit of the Declaration of Conduct (DOC). Vietnam requests that Taiwan immediately stop the aforementioned activity and hold total responsibility for any consequences caused by its act./.
