ANSWERS QUESTION ON 17 MAY 2006
Question : Please provide information about two Vietnamese men, who have just been saved by the Chilean Marine Force?
Answer: According to the Vietnamese Embassy in Chile, two Vietnamese citizens, recently saved by the Chilean Marine Force in the Chilean sea waters, are Tran Anh Son (born in Thach Ha, Ha Tinh province) and Le Dinh Lam (born in Ky Anh, Ha Tinh province). They were previously working on Juii Sin fishing vessel of Taiwan. The Embassy is actively contacting the Chilean authorities to arrange a consular visit to these two men. Now they are under medical care in a hospital in Chile.
The Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is cooperating with the Department of Oversea Labor Management of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalid and Social affairs in instructing companies in charge of oversea labor export to contact their Taiwanese partners to verify the case, find appropriate solutions and soon bring back home these two Vietnamese crewmen.
