Vietnam resolutely protests Taiwan’s construction of a runway on Ba Binh Island
On the news in Taiwan’s Zhongxin and China’s People Daily websites reporting that Taiwan has started rebuilding a runway on Ba Binh (Itu - Aba) Island, Truong Sa archipelagos and its memorial stele, on 15 November 2007 Spokesman of Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Le Dung states:
Vietnam possesses sufficient historical evidence and legal foundations to assert its sovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos. All activities in Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos undertaken without consent of Vietnam are in violation of Vietnam’s sovereignty and legally invalid.
Vietnam resolutely protests Taiwan’s reconstruction of a runway on Ba Binh Island of Truong Sa archipelagos, considering it a serious violation of Vietnam’s sovereignty. We strongly urge Taiwan to immediately stop this action as well as similar violations in the Truong Sa archipelagos.
