Remark by Vietnamese Foreign Ministry Spokesman on March 30, 2012
On March 30, the China’s Hainan provincial authorities did not refrain from hosting “Sinan Cup” yacht race from Sanya to Hoang Sa archipelago. In response to that, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Luong Thanh Nghi stressed that "The Chinese sailing competition to Hoang Sa archipelago of Viet Nam is a seriously violation of Viet Nam's sovereignty and goes against China's own commitments to not have actions that could further complicate the situation in the East Sea.
Viet Nam resolutely opposes that action and asks China to immediately stop the race, comply with the DOC and make practical contributions to maintaining peace and stability in the East Sea. "
