Remarks by Foreign Ministry Spokesperson on March 6, 2013
In response to the media regarding Viet Nam’s reaction to the demise of President Hugo Chavez Frias of Venezuela, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Luong Thanh Nghi on March 6th made the following remarks:
“We are deeply moved upon the news that President Hugo Chavez Frias has passed away on March 5, 2013. We would like to send our deep condolences to the family of President Hugo Chavez Frias, the Government and people of Venezuela.
We believe that Venezuela and her people will overcome this loss, continue to gain achievements in the cause of comprehensive development of the country and that the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Viet Nam and Venezuela continue to develop for the interests of the two peoples, for peace, stability and cooperation in the region and the world.
On March 6, 2013, Leaders of the Vietnamese Communist Party, the State and the Government sent their letters of condolence to the United Socialist Party, the Government, the National Assembly and the people of Venezuela. On the same day, on behalf of the Leaders of the Vietnamese Communist Party, the State and the Government, a delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai departed for Venezuela to attend the official funeral of President Hugo Chavez Frias, which is organized on March 8, 2013 by the Government and people of Venezuela.”
