ANNOUNCEMENT:

1. PM Nguyen Tan Dung to visit Singapore and attend the 12th Shangri-la Dialogue (May 31 to June 1)

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will visit Singapore and attend the 12th Shangri-la Dialogue at the invitation of Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Long and the Dialogue Organizing Committee from May 31 to June 1.

The Prime Minister as a keynote speaker will address the Opening ceremony elaborating on Vietnamese foreign, security and national defense policies for peace, security and development cooperation, confidence building measures based on international law and proposing orientations for settlement of issues relating to the maintenance of peace, stability in the region, including maritime security and safety issues in the South China Sea.

Prime Minister Dung is expected to hold talks his Singaporean counterpart Prime Minister Lee Hsien Long, pay a courtesy call to President Tony Tan and meet with the business community in Singapore.

2. DPM Nguyen Thien Nhan to attend the 19th Future of Asia International Conference (May 23-24, 2013)

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan will attend the 19th International Conference on the Future of Asia held by Nikkei in Tokyo from May 23 to 24, 2013 at the invitation of Nikkei Inc Chairman and CEO.

Under the theme “New steps for Stronger Ties and Integration”, the Conference will focus discussions on new linkages in Asia for joint growth.

DPM Nhan is expected deliver remarks on the trend of cooperation and regional linkages in Asia, the importance of regional connectivity, measures to strengthen cooperation for development and response to the common challenges of Asia.

The DPM is expected to meet with senior Japanese leaders to discuss measures to promote the strategic partnership between the two countries in a substantive and effective way, focusing on science and technology, and human resource training. He will also attend the "Future of Viet Nam - Japan Education Cooperation" Forum.

3. DPM Vu Van Ninh to visit Yunnan province of China, attend the Opening of the China - South Asia Expo and the 2013 Kunming Trade Fair (June 4-7, 2013)

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh will visit Yunnan province of China and attend the Opening Ceremony of the China - South Asia Expo and the 2013 Kunming Fair from June 4-7, 2013 at the invitation of the Government of China and leaders of Yunnan province.

The visit is also aimed at promoting cooperation between Vietnamese and Chinese localities, including Yunnan.

4. UNICEF Executive Director to visit Viet Nam (May 29 - 31, 2013)

UNICEF Executive Director Anthony Lake will pay an official visit to Viet Nam from May 29 - 31, 2013 at the invitation of Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and attend a ceremony to release State of World's Children 2013 report in Danang.

The two sides will discuss ways and means to promote the cooperation between Viet Nam and UNICEF, further improve the efficiency of UNICEF operations in Viet Nam.

Mr. Anthony Lake is expected to pay courtesy calls on a number of Viet Nam's senior officials./.
