Remarks by Foreign Ministry Spokesman Luong Thanh Nghi on 123 Agreement
In response to question from the media regarding the initial of the so called 123 agreement between Viet Nam – US on nuclear energy cooperation for peaceful purposes, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Luong Thanh Nghi on October 16, 2013 said:
Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and Secretary of State John Kerry on October 10, 2013 initialed the Viet Nam - US Agreement on cooperation in using nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. It is a positive step that will give Viet Nam access to US high technology on nuclear energy and boost the bilateral cooperation in civil nuclear energy in the future.
Viet Nam consistently follows the policy of developing nuclear energy for peaceful and responsible purposes and maintaining nuclear safety, security and non-proliferation.
