Remarks by FM Spokesman Le Hai Binh on 20 February, 2014
In response to question from the media regarding Vietnam’s position on the racist killing of a Vietnamese – Cambodian man in Cambodia, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Le Hai Binh stated:
“We condemn any act which incites racist violence. We have asked Cambodian functional agencies to investigate and soon bring the perpetrators to trial, and take necessary measures to prevent acts of provoking racism against Vietnamese people in Cambodia. It is known that the suspects were arrested”.
In response to the media’s question regarding the statement by the the US State Department spokesperson relating to the sentence on Le Quoc Quan, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Le Hai Binh said:
“This statement is inappropriate and interferes into Viet Nam’s internal affairs. In Viet Nam, there are no so-called “prisoners of conscience”. Those who break the law will be tried in accordance with laws”.
