Remarks by FM Spokesman Le Hai Binh on March 25, 2014
On 25 March 2014, responding to media’s questions regarding the information that the Japanese Transportation Consultants, Inc. (JTC) had admitted bribing Vietnamese railway officials to win contracts in ODA-funded projects, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Le Hai Binh stated:
“Viet Nam strongly determines to fight corruption and to use ODA transparently and effectively.
The Vietnamese relevant ministries and agencies are actively working to examine and clarify the information reported by the press, and closely work with the Japanese side to collect all records and documents needed. If violations were detected, inspection and prosecution procedures would be strictly implemented according to law.
The Ministry of Transportation has temporarily suspended concerned officials of the Viet Nam Railways Corporation from their posts to present their accounts on the information.”
