Statement by Foreign Ministry Spokesman Le Hai Binh on Situation in Thailand
(MOFA - 26th May) - On 24 May 2014, responding to reporters’ question on Viet Nam’s reaction to the on-going developments in Thailand, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Le Hai Binh stated:
“As a neighbor in the region and also an ASEAN member, Viet Nam closely follows on-going developments in Thailand. Viet Nam hopes that Thailand will soon stabilize the situation in order to build and develop the country, for peace, stability and cooperation in the region.”
On the same day, the Consulate Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a notice to advise Vietnamese citizens not to travel to Thailand until the stability recovered. It also advised the Vietnamese community in Thailand to abide by local regulations and to timely contact Viet Nam’s representative offices in Thailand if assistance is needed.
