On August 31, 2017, MOFA Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang made the following remarks in response to questions from the media regarding the August 29 ICBM launch by the DPRK:
"Viet Nam is deeply concerned about the ICBM launch by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea over the Japanese airspace on August 29th, which is a serious violation of the United Nations Security Council related resolutions and escalates tension in the region.
Viet Nam consistently supports all efforts to step up dialogues and maintain peace and stability in the Korean peninsula. We call on parties concerned to strictly abide by the UNSC related resolutions and make constructive and practical contributions to maintaining peace, security and stability in the region and the world"
