Remarks by MOFA Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang in response to China's announcement of a live-fire exercise in Hoang Sa (Paracel) Archipelago of Viet Nam
MOFA Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang on September 5, 2017 made the following remarks in response to China's announcement of a live-fire exercise in Hoang Sa (Paracel) Archipelago of Viet Nam:
“The announcement by China of a live-fire exercise in Hoang Sa (Paracel) Archipelago of Viet Nam is a serious violation of Viet Nam's sovereignty over the islands, threatening peace and stability in the region and the East Sea.
Viet Nam strongly opposes this move by China and solemnly urges China to respect Viet Nam's sovereignty over Hoang Sa Archipelogo, neither repeat similar actions nor compromise peace, stability in the region and the East Sea.
Viet Nam again takes this occasion to affirm its resolution to defend its sovereignty and legitimate rights and interests in the East Sea by peaceful means that are in line with international law, including the United Nations Charter and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.”
