Remarks by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam Le Thi Thu Hang on possible assistance to the diplomatic missions in Viet Nam in repatriating their citizens
(MOFA) - On 3 April 2020, in response to a question of reporters on possible assistance to the diplomatic missions in Viet Nam in repatriating their citizens, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang stated:
Due to the swift and complicated developments of the Covid-19 pandemic across the globe, many countries and territories have updated their regulations on entry, exit and transit. As a result, carriers have suspended or cancelled flights, making it difficult for many foreigners in Viet Nam to return home.
In view of this development, Vietnamese authorities have proactively exchanged information with the diplomatic missions in Viet Nam, and offered them much support in their citizen protection. We have worked in close coordination with them to address all matters related to the quarantine and residency of their citizens, and facilitated the exit of foreign citizens in accordance with the Vietnamese rules and regulations, including those on disease prevention and control .
Such efforts and goodwill of Viet Nam have been applauded by the diplomatic missions and foreign nationals in the country./.
