Remarks by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam Le Thi Thu Hang about the fact that Singapore unilaterally lifted border restrictions for Vietnamese visitors


(MOFA) - At the regular press conference on 1 October, regarding a reporter’s request for more information about the fact that Singapore unilaterally lifted border restrictions for Vietnamese visitors, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang said:

According to Viet Nam’s Embassy in Singapore, on 30  September 2020, Singapore announced that border restrictions to visitors from Vietnam will be lifted from the 8th of October, 2020.

The Singaporean authorities said that visitors from Viet Nam entering Singapore from the 8 October 2020 will have to submit an online application for entry approval from at least 7 to 30 days before the expected entry date. They also are required to undergo the Covid-19 test upon arrival and install the Covid-19 tracing application in their mobile devices. If the test result is negative, visitors are free to travel within Singapore. Otherwise, visitors have to be treated in Singapore and bare all the medical expenses.

On the same day, The Singapore Embassy in Hanoi has notified the Department of Consular, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs about this policy, and the two sides agreed to enhance collaboration to facilitate the travel of Vietnamese and Singaporean citizens in accordance with situations of each countries.
