Remarks by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam Le Thi Thu Hang on the decision of the US Trade Representative on 23 July regarding the investigation into Viet Nam’s monetary policy
(MOFA) - On 24 July 2021, in response to a question on Viet Nam’s reaction to the decision of the US Trade Representative on 23 July regarding the investigation into Viet Nam’s monetary policy, Ms. Le Thi Thu Hang, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, affirmed that:
Viet Nam welcomes the decision of the US Trade Representative on 23 July pertaining to the investigation into Viet Nam’s monetary policy under Section 301 of the US’ 1974 Trade Act. In this connection, the US Trade Representative has determined that no trade action against Viet Nam is warranted at this time.
This is an encouraging follow-up to the agreement reached on 19 July between the State Bank of Viet Nam and the US Department of the Treasury. This is also the fruit of the constructive dialogue in good faith between the two sides to resolve the bottlenecks in their bilateral economic ties, as both countries strive towards fostering stable, long-standing, and mutually beneficial relations in line with their Comprehensive Partnership.
