A media training course for high-ranking officials who are in charge of media work and public relations of Vietnamese ministries, branches and provincial authorities will be held at the Government Guest House from 30 November to 07 December 2005.
The course is funded by "International Opportunity Fund" of British Foreign and Commonwealth Office through the Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Hanoi, Vietnam. This is the first time the Press and Information Department under Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland have co-organized a media training course for Vietnamese officials.
The training course will be devided into two classes. Lecturers of the course are from the Vietnam’s Academy for Journalism and Communication and the Thompson Foundation, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
The course aims to help enhance officials’ effective management of information, develop the relationship between spokepersons of local ministries, branches and provincial authorities with domestic and international media. The course’s 50 participants are high-ranking officials of Vietnamese ministries, branches, the Supreme Court, the Procuracy and provincial external relations.
"International Opportunity Fund" is the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s largest programme budget and was launched by the Foreign Secretary in May 2003. The fund has its own strategy and priorities including support for good governance, sound management of the environment, transparency, information, participation and access to justice, national resource management.
£5 million in funding has been allocated to various programs for the fiscal year of 2005/2006. This same amount is baselined for fiscal years 2006/2007 and 2007/2008 focusing on areas of priorities of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in several countries around the world./.
