The ASEAN Community Women’s Circle of Hanoi visits Primary drawing class

In the morning of 25th November, The ASEAN Community Women’s Circle of Hanoi (AWCH) visited Sac Cam drawing class of Primary students at the Center for Vietnam Youth Talents, Science and Technology (CYTAST) (No. 7 Xa Dan Street, Dong Da, Hanoi).

The Sac Cam drawing class was established in 2016 by CYTAST and Vietnam – Hungary Culture Club. “We started this drawing class along with some other major classes such as guitar class, language class… The purpose of this drawing class is to teach children how to draw and to learn about the local and world fine art. It helps children to be a global citizen in the futute.” – said Painter Nguyen Mai Huong, who is in charge of the Sac Cam drawing class.

The class has 18 students at the moment and some students are foreigners. The AWCH has come to know about the class because of its virality and this is the first time they visit and interact with the class.
President of AWCH in Hanoi, Mrs. Tran Thi Bich Van (Spouse of Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Quoc Dung) said:
“Art is a field that can connect people from all over the world. As a part of the ASEAN community, members of ASEAN embassies should be aware of Vietnam’s art. I happened to know painter Mai Huong by chance, she is an active member of The Vietnam – Hungary Friendship Association. When she let me know about the Sac Cam class, I thought it is going to be a good idea for the ASEAN spouses and diplomatic officials in Hanoi to come and visit the class. The purpose of the trip is to gain people awareness of Vietnam’s fine art, to make them acknowledge of our education for the future generation, and to connect ASEAN members together. In the future, we will organize more activities like this to raise awareness of Vietnam’s art to ASEAN friends.”

After introducing each of their paintings in the class, the students started to sketch the portraits of AWCH members. At the end of the visit, AWCH members gave students some gifts.

After that, members of AWCH spent time visiting Painter Mai Huong’s gallery, listened to the introduction of Vietnam’s art and watched the painter drawing on silk.
