On behalf of AWCH, Ambassador Nguyen Nguyet Nga congratulated Mrs. Arfah Nadiah Binti Ahmad on fulfilling excellently the role of Ambassador’s Spouse during the term of office in Vietnam and thanked her for active contributions to activities of AWCH as well as promotion of the two countries’ bilateral relation.
During the meeting, members of AWCH cooked together “Kanom Look Chups” – meaning Fruits made from mung beans.
This is a basic dish with the ingredient of mung beans, coconut milk and sugar but eye-catching decorated and requires the handiness. It is the agar jelly that makes the outer layer become tough and shiny.
If this is the first time you eat this then you cannot resist the next bites since it is very…tasty. However, to do it yourself requires patience and a little handiness, especially when molding and dying cakes with food coloring (the colors can be green, red and yellow).
As guided by Thai cook, the ingredient to make mung beans filling contains: steam mung beans, sugar, salt, and coconut milk. Put all of these into a blender. Blend for a few minutes until the mixture thickens. After being cooked, the mung beans mixture is cooled and wrapped to put into fridge for hours with the aim of making it to become more thicker and easier to mold.
The next step is to make the shape of fruits. The challenge this time for Spouses is to make the shape of apple, mango, carrot and water apple.
Next is dying step and waiting it for being dried.
At the same time, prepare a boiling agar jelly water pot and dip the fruits into the substance. Continue doing this step 3 times to ensure the moderate shiny and toughness for the outer layer.
In Thai cook’s experience, to make a fruit basket like this could take 3-4 hours but these are rare and precious time.
Spouses were happy with their outcomes.
Finally, Mrs. Tran Thi Bich Van announced the working schedule in 2019 of group, and believed Spouses would enjoy the living in Vietnam, and feel more about the beauty of the country and culture in Vietnam.
