Viet Nam, Cambodia determined to build ever green friendship

(VNA) - Viet Nam and Cambodia are both determined to build the two neighbour countries' friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation ever green and fruitful.

The determination was reaffirmed by Vietnamese leaders and Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni during their recent meetings, said President Tran Duc Luong at a ceremony held in Ha Noi on March 18 morning to say good-bye to King Sihamoni.

Together with President Tran Duc Luong at the ceremony held at the Presidential Palace were Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan, Vice National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phuc Thanh, Foreign Minister Nguyen Dy Nien, and other senior officials of Viet Nam.

President Luong expressed his hope that King Sihamoni would visit Viet Nam again and wished the King good health and longevity in order to lead Cambodia to develop prosperously.

King Norodom Sihamoni expressed thanks to the Vietnamese Party, State and people for their warm welcome, and his belief that the two countries' solidarity, friendship and comprehensive cooperation would be further promoted.

He said he would bear in his mind forever the fine and deep impressions of his this time visit.

Earlier the same day, Vice National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Van Yeu paid a courtesy visit to King Norodom Sihamoni.

Vice Chairman Yeu informed King Sihamoni of the fine development of relations between Vietnamese and Cambodian National Assemblies. He said the Vietnamese NA would do its utmost to strengthen neighbourliness, friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Viet Nam and Cambodia. He conveyed best regards from NA Chairman Nguyen Van An to King Sihamoni, former King Norodom Sihanouk and other Cambodian leaders.

King Sihamoni said he was pleased at the continued promotion of relations between the Cambodian Senate and National Assembly and the Vietnamese National Assembly.The regular exchange of visits by Cambodian NA's committees and their Vietnamese counterparts has helped promote relations between two National Assemblies and States, the King said.

Also on March 18 morning, King Sihamoni and his entourage paid a floral tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his Mausoleum and visited the President's residence and office.

He left Ha Noi the same day, concluding his three-day official visit to Viet Nam./.
